DEVELOPMENT OF NORMS AND SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENTS
Adoption and development of norms, standards and sustainable procurements in order to develop awareness and increase city resilience toward CC. The aim is to provide knowledge about how to act in certain circumstances through mandatory policies and sustainable infrastructures that enable to fulfil them.
• PU1.1: Adopt a standard language for all documents, norms and contracts concerning CC resilience to facilitate their adoption.
• PU1.2: Develop norms/procurements/incentives to boost clean energy consumption to reduce their emissions.
• PU1.3: Develop norms/procurements/incentives to increase recycling rates and reduce volumes of waste.
• PU1.4: Develop norms/procurements/incentives to increase green urbanization in both new and old buildings to reduce infrastructures’ emissions.
• PU1.5: Develop norms/procurements/incentives to increase the usage of clean technologies that reduce emissions.
• PU1.6 Develop norms/procurements/incentives to boost green mobility and reduce transport’s emissions.
PROVIDE TOOLKIT TO DEVELOP PLANS AGAINST CC
Development of tools such as an online best practice repository or a handbook of strategic procedures, to facilitate the process of building awareness and better face CC. The aim is to mitigate possible existing difficulties to develop these plans such as the lack of resources, the lack of knowledge or the lack of experience.
• PU2.1: Develop tools to understand, measure and reduce the carbon footprint.
• PU2.2: Develop tools to predict CC related risks in both short and long term.
• PU2.3: Develop toolkit to develop preparedness and emergency capacity of all stakeholders.
• PU2.4: Design tools that gather best practices and examples of stakeholders successfully dealing with CC.
• PU2.5: Design tools to define strategic procedures to deal with CC depending on the stakeholders necessities.
SENSITIZATION ACTIONS
Carry out sensitization actions such as incentives to recycle, studies about CC, workshops concerning sustainability habits or creative participatory sessions with any of the three city stakeholder group. The aim is to generate a sense of co-responsibility.
• PU3.1: Publish CC studies using an accessible language to disclosure knowledge concerning CC.
• PU3.2: Carry out campaigns to develop co-responsibility and sustainable habits among all city stakeholders.
• PU3.3: Organize workshops to educate all city stakeholders in sustainable habits Education workshops
• PU3.4: Design and implement incentives to boost all city stakeholders adopt sustainable habits.
PRIVATE COMPANIES
CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY ACTIONS
Carry out transparency actions such as publishing the companies’ emissions, sharing consumption data, communicating information about taken sustainable actions, financial movements or sharing the problems and barriers found in the process of developing sustainable habits. The aim is to reinforce their commitment to CC, customers become loyal and new potential clients are obtained.
• PR1.1: Publication of transparency reports concerning company’s emission and consumption to inform and monitor the company’s sustainable performance.
• PR1.2: Adoption of incentives to increase sustainable habits and reduce resources (energy, water, paper…) consumption.
• PR1.3: Shift into sustainable investments such as green bonds or green energy supply.
ADOPTION OF NEW VALUES FOR NEW BUSINESS MODELS
Adopt new business values such as the adoption of an inclusive and sustainable economy, low carbon emission practices or sustainable habits like recycling, in order to pursue sustainable production and consumption of resources. The aim is to reduce the effect of CC and get new clients.
• PR2.1: Adoption of circular economy and zero waste policy.
• PR2.2: Adoption of green energy usage policy.
• PR2.3: Implementation of participatory processes to constantly inform, learn and communicate with both workers and customers.
• PR2.4: Promote green certifications in the company to facilitate workers commitment in sustainable habits.
• PR2.5: Innovation in product and service design to incentive sustainable habits among customers.
DEVELOP TECHNOLOGIES FOR NEW BUSINESS MODELS
Develop technologies to transform private companies into new business models that not only seek profit but also generate social benefit such as social vulnerability reduction. For example, investing in sustainable technology makes the companies reduce their emissions, which reduces pollution and increases social welfare.
• PR3.1: Boost innovation in developing, testing and implementing new clean technology to reduce emissions and waste.
• PR3.2: Re-engineer operation and processes to reduce and re-use waste in the production of good and services.
COMMUNITY GROUPS
ORGANIZE EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS
Organize events and workshops to discuss about the main concerns and problems derived from CC such as lower society welfare due to the effects of CC, vulnerabilities due to new climate scenarios or the lack of knowledge concerning what to do or how to act in a sustainable way.
• CG1.1: Organize conference to inform and communicate about CC using technology and disruptive audio-visual content.
• CG1.2: Carry out workshops and training sessions to teach and interact with communities.
• CG1.3: Develop and share communication material with concise information avoiding using technical language and discourse of fear as the aim is to constantly inform communities.
ORGANIZE CAMPAIGNS
Organize campaigns through social networks, media or physical events with the objective to create a positive impact on the three city stakeholders' awareness, yet with a higher emphasis in community groups. The aim is to get the attention mainly of community groups.
• CG2.1: Carry out campaigns in different social network with the participation of reputable influencers to cover a wider range of audience.
• CG2.2: Launch visual content such as documentaries to inform and reach communities.
• CG2.3: Organize conference and talks with the participation of well-known expertise and public figures to put CC in everyone’s agendas
DEMAND A CHANGE
Demand public entities and private companies’ a change in the way they are facing the challenge of CC. To do so, demanding action and transparency concerning their decisions and emissions is posed in this action in order to ensure adopting and enabling good sustainable practices.
• CG3.1: Organize and participate in strikes to demand both public and private stakeholders to change.
• CG3.2: Boost social media movements through social network to reach all communities and incentive both co-responsibility and attention about CC and the need to act.
• CG3.3: Participate in different media platforms (news papers, television, YouTube, journals…) interviews to bring attention about community groups participation when facing CC.
